Graduate students wishing to specialize in the foundations and/or philosophy of mathematics may elect to pursue the Math Emphasis in the LPS program. Faculty in the UCI Department of Mathematics (especially, Professors Paul Eklof and Matthew Foreman) and the UCLA Department of Mathematics (especially, D. A. Martin and Yiannis Moschovakis) have agreed to participate in the existing UCI/UCLA Math Emphasis. Students in the Math Emphasis take courses and receive advising from these participating mathematics professors, as well as the faculty of LPS and the Philosophy Department. See the Graduate Program page for information on the requirements of the Math Emphasis.
