"Defending Frege as an Orthodox Neo-Kantian"

Abstract:

My aim in this talk is to first motivate a reading of Frege which aligns him with Hermann Cohen’s Marburg school of Neo-Kantianism.  I then introduce a recent argument by Lanier Anderson, which claims that Frege’s critique of psychologism shows that he cannot be so aligned.  I counter this claim by arguing that Frege’s notion of objectivity and his critique of psychologism are much closer to the orthodox neo-Kantian position than Anderson seems to suggest.
