Logic & Philosophy of Science

Course Description

Course:  LPS 141C;Phil 141C
LPS 241C;Phil 241C
Name:  Quantum Mechanics
Description:  This course provides a introduction to quantum mechanics, what it tells us about the basic structure of the physical world, and the foundational problems it faces. Topics to be discussed include quantum indeterminism and nonlocality and the quantum measurement problem. We will consider prospects for solving the quantum measurement problem including: collapse theories, hidden-variable theories, and Everett-type interpretations of quantum mechanics. The text for the course will be David Albert's Quantum Mechanics and Experience (Harvard University Press).
