| Description: |
This course is an
introduction to critical reasoning, which aims to develop formal tools
to evaluate the validity of arguments. In particular, we will
learn the basics of propositional logic and categorical logic, as well
as the skills pertinent for the evaluation of arguments formulated in
such languages. Students will also learn about common logical
fallacies by identifying fallacious arguments in everyday life, and
they will apply their newly-found logical skills in order to solve a
selection of logical puzzles. Throughout the course, we will
discuss the limitations and benefits of the project of formalizing
arguments. There are no prerequisites for this course.
