“Truth”

If anaphora crosses syntactic barriers, a number of difficulties with truth disappear: (i) the inexpressibility of a simple generalization with the logical force of (all) the Tarski biconditions, (ii) the problematical status of a predicate governed by such lists of biconditions -- specifically whether such a predicate "expresses a property", (iii) the apparent fact that truth predicates -- construed Tarski-wise -- cannot apply to more than one language.
