"Content Carving for Fun and Profit"

Frege speaks mysteriously of recarving the contents of statements apparently not about abstract objects to reveal hidden abstract commitments. The paper develops a conception of content carving that is a bit (not much) less mysterious than Frege's, and considers its consequences for mathematical ontology.
